The dramatic mountain landscapes of the Banhoek Valley will provide a spectacular backdrop for a fiery new celebration of flavour as the inaugural Meet the Makers: Wine & Chilli Festival ignites at the Banhoek Chilli Oil Company on Saturday, 21 March 2026.
Promising a heady fusion of fine wines, artisan craft and bold chilli-infused creations, the festival is set to deliver a sensory experience as unforgettable as its setting.
Bringing together some of the valley’s most respected wine producers alongside innovative chilli artisans, the festival promises a vibrant day of tastings, storytelling and discovery in one of the Cape Winelands’ most picturesque settings.
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet and taste wines from 13 celebrated Banhoek Valley producers, including:
- Rainbows End
- Miles Mossop
- Delaire Graff
- Alluvia
- Zevenwacht
- Grondpad Wines
- Clouds Estate Wines
- Tokara
- Hogan Wines
- Capensis
- Le Pommier
- Thelema
- Camberley
Complementing the wines will be a diverse selection of artisanal chilli condiments from passionate producers, including Chilli Lizzi, Spicy Bulldog, Dam Fine, C&D Hot Sauce, Donkiebyt, Konfyt Susters, Anton se Koskarmenaadjies, Lelos Tasty Foods, Massimo’s Spiriti Famosi, The Vanilla & A Taste of Madagascar, Bangbroek, BCO Taste Lab and Turqle Brands.
Set on the scenic Banhoek Chilli Farm along Old Banghoek Road in Kylemore, the festival offers more than just tastings. Guests can enjoy relaxed conversations with winemakers, chefs and food artisans, discover inventive chilli creations from the Southern Hemisphere’s largest chilli deli, and soak up the natural beauty of the valley while sampling exceptional wines and bold flavours.
‘We wanted to create something that celebrates the incredible makers in our valley in a way that feels personal and authentic,’ says Ken Kinsey-Quick. ‘Banhoek is known for its world-class wines, and pairing that with the creativity of the chilli makers felt like a natural fit. It’s about bringing people together to taste, explore and meet the people behind the products.’
