For the first time ever, the much-loved family show Bluey’s Big Play The Stage Show is coming to Artscape Theatre in Cape Town from 26 June to 6 July 2025, offering South African fans a chance to experience the iconic animated characters in a whole new light, Cape {town} Etc reports.

Bluey’s Big Play is a thrilling live adaptation of the BAFTA and Emmy® Award-winning animated series, which has captured hearts across the globe. Produced by Ludo Studio, the stage version promises to bring all the charm of the original series to life with larger-than-life puppets, colourful sets, live actors, and an entirely new soundtrack. Fans can look forward to seeing Bluey, Bingo, Mum and Dad in action like never before, as the production unfolds with creativity and fun.
The stage show follows Bluey and her family through an exciting day of adventures, from sunrise to bedtime. The success of Bluey’s Big Play has been nothing short of extraordinary, with sold-out seasons across Australia, the UK, North America, and beyond. Having first premiered in Brisbane, Bluey’s hometown, the show has performed over 500 times at 65 venues, including iconic locations like the Sydney Opera House.
In addition to its widespread popularity, Bluey’s Big Play has received critical acclaim, including a 2024 Olivier Award nomination for Best Family Show. Reviews have been glowing, with Kiddo Adventures calling it ‘a magical theatrical experience for fans of all ages’ and Time Out describing it ‘as authentic as it comes’. The Guardian, in particular, loved the ‘sweet show [that] sets tails wagging’ with its delightful puppetry.
The music for the stage show has been composed by Bluey composer Joff Bush, and the audio track features original voices from the TV series, including Dave McCormack as Dad and Melanie Zanetti as Mum.
