Robben Island Museum (RIM) will host a one-day seminar on 29 August 2017 entitled ‘Celebrating Women in Heritage’ to be attended by women whom are associated with former prisoners. The focus of the seminar will provide a forum for open discussion and sharing stories around the experiences of these women during times of hardship, angst and brave activism. The programme includes a number of personal reflections, presentations, poem readings, music and a plenary discussion. RIM Council Member, Ms Luli Callinicos and also a renowned historian, will officially open the seminar while Mrs Makhotso Sotyu, Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, will deliver the keynote address to mark the role of women in achieving democracy and freedom in South Africa. For more information and if you would like to attend, contact Ms Ayanda Woji on +27 (0) 21 413 4266.
