In the true spirit of ubuntu, Ladles of Love is calling on South Africans and businesses across the country to roll up their sleeves and give back this Mandela Day by volunteering their time to support children in need, Cape {town} Etc reports.
Under the theme ‘It’s In Your Hands,’ Ladles of Love will host two flagship volunteer events on Thursday, 18 July, one at Cape Town’s DHL Stadium and another at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Johannesburg.
These community-driven events will feature four activation zones, MAKE, CREATE, CRAFT, and GROW, where volunteers can engage in hands-on activities to produce educational and nourishing items for preschool children in underserved communities. All materials will be provided, and each participant’s contribution will directly benefit a child in need.
‘Volunteering as a team on Mandela Day is about building community, strengthening workplace wellness, and igniting a culture of ubuntu that can uplift our nation,’ says Yolanda Jones, Programme Director at Ladles of Love. ‘Volunteering is more than a good deed; it’s a civic duty and a powerful form of active citizenship. And doing good brings people genuine joy.,
Tickets cost R250, with each one providing a child with two nutritious meals a day for a month. Participants can also request an 18A Tax certificate for their donation.
