The recent severe weather has had a devastating impact on communities.
Thanks to the care and incredible support from locals, the SPCA has been able to make a huge difference for animals in need, regardless of the time of day or night.

In a mere 4 days, the SPCA travelled almost 20 000km and fuel costs alone amounted to R47 000.
The team logged a total of 166 hours of overtime.

However, their efforts paid off, as more than 3 000 animals were assisted in the areas of Macassar, Freedom Farm, Hout Bay, Khayelitsha, Cape Nature Farms, Mfuleni Farms, Wetland Farm, iThemba Farms, Factreton, Melkbosstrand, Sir Lowry’s Pass, Strand, Wynberg, Phillipi, DuNoon, Penhill Farms, Schaapkraal, and Airport Industria.

The SPCA has said that the work is not yet done because the South African Weather Service has predicted further disruptive rain on Thursday, 18 July 2024.

The rainfall is expected to result in localised flooding in susceptible formal and informal settlements in the areas of Cape Town and Stellenbosch.
The SPCA has asked communities to please contribute to the ongoing efforts to keep animals safe from floods, mudslides and rockfalls.
‘We can’t do it without you,’ they’ve pleaded.
