The only non-profit transitional care centre in the Western Cape, St Joseph’s offers children with chronic and life-limiting illnesses round-the-clock care. Every week, more than 5 000 nappies are used, thus your help is greatly needed to address this basic demand.
Your act of kindness will benefit many children, including Lukhanyiso Ndele, who is one of many at St Joseph’s on his journey to freedom. Lukhanyiso experienced a hypoxic brain injury after choking on a pen lid, resulting in the loss of practically all motor function and eyesight. When he came at St Joseph’s, he was unable to sit, grip objects, or see clearly. Lukhanyiso steadily regained vision and improved his capacity to sit and engage in activities thanks to weekly occupational therapy sessions. His progress demonstrates the life-changing treatment provided at St Joseph’s.

Every pack of nappies contributed allows St Joseph’s personnel to provide the best possible care for young patients ranging from newborns to 17-year-olds. When a kid is admitted for rehabilitative and restorative care following a terrible, life-changing event, the basic decency of having clean, fresh nappies makes a big impact. We have a unique requirement for adult nappies, particularly in medium and large sizes, for our older children. Your contribution of these vital things is greatly appreciated.
You can contribute by purchasing nappies from a trustworthy online platform and having them delivered to St Joseph’s at 40 Pallotti Rd, Montana, or dropping off donations at this address. Alternatively, you may organise your own Happy Nappy Drive by asking your community, friends, or colleagues to collect nappies. Another alternative is to visit the St Joseph’s website and make a direct contribution. It is that simple: give nappies and feel good.
St Joseph’s is located 2 kilometres from Cape Town International Airport and contains 6 wards with 175 beds. It provides multidisciplinary care to children with life-limiting or life-threatening diseases.

These youngsters are not well enough to return home, but they are also not sick enough to be admitted to an acute hospital. St Joseph’s provides rehabilitative and restorative treatment to help people recover. St Joseph’s is dedicated to delivering crucial healthcare services to children in impoverished communities at no cost to their families.
Feel-good giving stories, such as one about a donor who invited guests to bring nappies instead of gifts for his 80th birthday, are very inspiring. Please remember the youngsters of St Joseph’s on this International Charity Day. Give nappies and be happy.
