The 2025 L’Ormarins King’s Plate (LKP) promises to be one of the most thrilling race days yet, as it returns to the iconic Hollywoodbets Kenilworth racetrack on Saturday, 4 January, reports Cape {town} Etc.
Renowned for its prestigious horse racing and sophisticated atmosphere, the event is set to kick off the New Year with style, marking the first Grade 1 feature race of 2025.
Recognised as one of the Cape summer season’s most anticipated social events, the L’Ormarins King’s Plate has a rich history dating back to its inception in 1861. The race is named after the original silver plate awarded by Queen Victoria to the winner of the inaugural race. Since then, it has evolved into a world-class occasion that blends the excitement of horse racing with an unmatched sense of elegance.
One of the highlights of the event is the highly anticipated Best Dressed competition. Sponsored by luxury brand Cartier, this year’s competition will feature three categories: Best Dressed Woman, Best Dressed Man, and Best Hat. Winners will receive stunning Cartier prizes, including the coveted Juste Un Cloud bracelet for all categories, as well as additional Cartier gifts such as scarves, handbags, cufflinks, and a Santos de Cartier ballpoint pen for the Best Dressed Man.
Alongside the fashion competition, guests can also take part in the Moments and Writers competitions, with a chance to win cash prizes of R20,000. These contests invite amateur photographers and writers to capture the essence of race day, adding a creative touch to the festivities.
Whether you’re enjoying the races from the exclusive Lifestyle Stud Club or mingling in the vibrant Lifestyle Style Village, each hospitality offering promises a unique experience for all guests. There are two ticket packages available:
