Future Frequency is an avant-garde electronic music festival next taking place on March 30. It aims to push the boundaries of the way we think about electronic music by incorporating hi-tech music in low-tech settings, drawing a contrast between the sounds of tomorrow and the aesthetics of the present.

The latest of the forward-thinking festival series will be taking place at a brand new container yard in Salt River, Cape Town. Party-goers can expect to see an active depot used to store and transport shipping containers. The space is untouched by any other event, and it’s rough, edgy landscape is set to compliment the hi-tech music selection. The fact that it is only ten minutes from the Cape Town City Centre makes it easily accessible by cab, shuttle or UBER- safety first.

Headliners for the night include French artist, Julian Jeweil, and German artist, Roman Flügel. The chart-topping regular, Jeweil, will be providing a melodic style of techno. Flügel, one of the biggest names in the German music scene, has been characterised as a “chameleon”, visiting a variety of styles from ambient/idm to house, techno, electro and leftfield.

Future Frequency is a meat free festival. With the interests of the planet in mind, organisers aim to decrease the carbon footprint of the event by embracing a meat-free culture. Meat production is one of the biggest contributors to global greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation. The festival would like to do their bit to curb that as best they can. Vegetarian food will available from a number of food traders in the food zone at the festival. Cape Town’s leading lockers provider, Locked, will be providing safe and affordable units to keep your belongings safe. Warnings have been put in place regarding pickpockets.

The festival invites guests on a sonic journey into the unknown…

Note that the festival has an age restriction- no under 20’s. Early bird tickets are for sale at R250 from Howler. Prices increase per phase. Tickets are non-refundable.
