The Hermanus Waterfront will be bustling with activity from September 27 to 29 as eager whale-watchers descend on the town for the 28th annual Hermanus Whale Festival.
The largest and oldest festival on the South African whale coast calendar, celebrates the return of the Southern right whales to the coastal waters of Southern Africa. The 3-day Hermanus Whale Festival honours these majestic creatures by focusing on conservational awareness and education.
This years programme will host a number of fun activities suited for young and old alike, including land and boat-based whale watching, the Festival of Whales Street Parade, arts and craft, live music, stalls showcasing local artisans, a beach clean-up and much more.
The Eco-Marine tent, where guests can learn more about the endangered animals and conservation is the focus of the festival. Guests will be inspired through informative and interactive displays, films, music, arts, food and informative talks by marine biologists and experts.
The event is free for all to attend.
