Panel discussion with Nobukho Nqaba and Andre Trantraal
October 12 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pmFree - R290
Join in a panel discussion with artist Nobukho Nqaba whose exhibition Izicwangciso Zezethu… (We Make Plans) explores the precariousness of home and historical displacements this Saturday, October 12.
Sitting down with cartoonist and writer, Andre Trantraal, Nqaba will discuss the role of art within displaced communities and the dynamism and complexities of reclaiming urban spaces.
Andre Tantraal’s collaborative work with his brother Nathan Tantraal is rooted in the communities of the Western Cape. Their credentials include a comic book adaption of historian Koni Benson’s PhD thesis on the history of women’s political struggles titled Crossroads.
Nqaba’s work reflects on personal memories of growing up in an informal settlement in Grabouw and the complexities of migration and labour. Her exhibition is on in Zeitz MOCAA’s Project Space until Sunday, 20 October 2019.
Booking is essential as space is limited.
