Imagine being in a room with a person who has a vast knowledge about the universe, solar system, life and the space that you live in right now.
This is what the Iziko Planetarium and Digital Dome is bringing this Friday, 22 April. Do you have any questions about what happened to mars? NASA’s project to the moon? What’s in the stars and more?
Former Deputy Chief Technologist at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Jim Adams, will be at the Iziko Planetarium for a public talk that will answer all your questions about the universe and more. He will be touching on the current mission to return to the Moon and Mars.
The award-winning innovator and storyteller has over 35 years of aerospace experience and has recently retired from NASA. He has been involved in over 30 spaceflight missions to explore the Earth, the Sun and most of our Solar System.
He takes pride in engaging with the curiosity and imagination of his audiences and inspires many science enthusiasts and entrepreneurs to think innovatively and creatively.
Planetarium Manager at Iziko Museums, Mathipa Sebitsiwa, said hosting someone who has spent most of his career focused on innovation and new technologies at NASA is in alignment with what they offer to their audiences, as they are a hub for innovation and discovery.
“Iziko’s Planetarium and Digital Dome prides itself in being the most advanced digital planetarium on the African continent, showcasing the best of digital technology through immersive shows for the public,” she said.
The Planetarium and Digital Dome brings digital technology to Cape Town and creates a space for innovation and discovery – where art, science and entertainment meet.
The public talk works on a first-come first-serve basis and the public at large is invited to register to book and stream it live here.
