While the roaring sounds of the Vodacom URC grand final echo from the Green Point, a different kind of roaring will be heard on Saturday evening in Cape Town’s creative district.
The Armchair Theatre and Cape of Good Hope SPCA are coming together to create an evening filled with live music and compassion at Woofstock: Black Banquet Fundraiser.

Bring your hearts and your dancing shoes as a diverse lineup of some of Cape Town’s finest bands bring their unique sound and distinctive talents to stage, rocking out in the name of epic vibes and the well-being of our furry friends.
Here’s who you can expect:
Peasant
Representing South Africa with their ‘nasty’ take on metallic hardcore since forming in 2014. The four-piece band started out playing crusty D-beat, crossover and death metal-inspired hardcore before evolving with more classic 90s metal and hardcore influences.
Dress your best this Saturday because they’re planning to make this one a ‘cooker’ by letting the Armchair Theatre star in their new music video.
Dangerfields (acoustic)
A five-piece post-punk/alternative band straight from the Mother City that draws inspiration from 80s post-punk and new wave as well as more modern shoegaze and psychedelic-rock sounds.
With expressive guitars and synths accompanied by primal rhythms and dreamy vocal harmonies, Dangerfields channel their personal experiences into big, atmosphere-driven songs idyllic for festival and club stages alike.
Dangerfields will be playing a three-piece acoustic set, doing stripped-down renditions of their songs to bring something sincere and memorable to the stage.
Year of Dogs (YOD)
Initially a duo that formed in 2017, the four-piece indie-funk-pop band made up of long-time friends came together in early 2020 and has been building a pretty impressive reputation since then.
Much of their influence stems from groups like Tame Impala, Mac De Marco, Parcels, MGMT, Jungle and French house disco groups.
Stick around on Saturday, and you might find them in their iconic ‘Eat Your Greens’ outfits.
Visitors Centre
A five-piece rock band with admittedly not much information around, but what better place to get to know them than at the Armchair Theatre?
Doors open at 6:30pm.
Tickets are available online for R100 and will be available at the door for R120. Students can score a discounted rate at the door when presenting their valid student ID.
Dedicated to raising funds for the SPCA, Woofstock aims to contribute to making a positive change in the lives of animals in need, providing them with shelter, care and a chance for a brighter future.
