Bikes, beers and bromance, the Buttonquail Trail mountain bike adventure is a three day getaway and a five-star nature experience in a rustic camp deep in the Elgin farmlands. The camp is situated in the Buttonquail Private Nature Reserve which is set on 560 hectares of pristine Cape mountain Fynbos and borders the Kogelberg Biosphere, the world’s natural heritage site known for its unique biodiversity. Over the period of two days you’ll cover 85 kilometers of some of the best trails in the country, returning to your camp in the evenings for massages on the river bank, sundowners and bonfire banter.

The biking trails run from the camp through the Buttonquail Private Nature Reserve, crossing over the Palmiet River and heading through the Kogelberg Biosphere into the Kleinmond area and then back via the trails around the highlands road. It’s the ultimate off-road experience!

The package caters for groups of 18 riders who will have exclusive use of the Buttonquail Camp, right on the banks of there Palmiet river.

There aren’t any set dates to the adventure as booking are made around camp availability and the groups convenience. Here’s a rough idea of what your three nights at the Buttonquail Trail mountain bike adventure could look like.
Friday
- Arrive at 4pm to an ice cold bucket of beers and a delicious cheese board at the camp.
- Delicious riverside dinner and bonfire in the boma.
Saturday
- 07:00 : Tea/Coffee, rusks and breakfast in the boma.
- 07:30 : 65km loop.
- 13:00 : Lunch on the patio at Buttonquail Camp and massages on the river bank.
- 17:00 : Sundowners with a view at Draak se Kop.
- 19:00 : Braai at the camp.
Sunday
- 07:00 : Tea/Coffee, rusks in the boma.
- 08:00 : 20km cycle route.
- Breakfast in the boma at Buttonquail after the cycle.
- Home time.
Here’s an idea of the accommodation setup at the Buttonquail Camp:
- Nobody shares a bed.
- The bigger units sleep 3 to 4 guests and the smaller units sleep 2.
- The camp sleeps a minimum of 18 guests and a maximum of 24.
- Smaller groups can be accommodated however the price per head will increase.
- There is a mix of 2 en-suite chalets which are half brick and half tent, 2 large en-suite tents, an en-suite wooden cabin and a large family brick chalet with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- The accommodation is dispersed around the main central kitchen, dining and lounge area.

All meals are included in the price per head however ice and any extra soft and alcoholic drinks need to be brought along and there is amazing drinking water at the camp. All snacks also need to be brought along for the duration of your stay.
All meals and food are brought to the camp from Cape Town, and Buttonquail aims to provide healthy but hearty meal options to keep you well-0fueled on your adventure.

- From R2250 per person per night sharing.
- Minimum 2 nights.
- Minimum 18 people. Should the total number of guests be less the price will increase.
- Cost is all inclusive however all drinks and massages for your own account.
