Heritage Crafts and Wilderness Skills Festival
September 20 - September 23R500 - R1500
Don’t miss out on the first heritage crafts and wilderness skills festival in SA, where you can immerse yourself in the practical skills and cultural traditions that support a low-impact lifestyle – one with a distinctive African flavour, from September 20 to 23.
For four days, leading up to annual Heritage Day, craft, outdoor and earth-skills enthusiasts will have the opportunity to gather at the beautiful Blue Hippo farm near Greyton and explore traditional skills such as green woodwork, bush crafts, Xhosa basket weaving, forging, San traditional skills, wild clay, wilderness skills, herbalism, fibre crafts and leatherwork.
The Earthskills Africa NPO was founded in response to a growing need to present a strong, cohesive platform for collaboration, education and inspiration in the areas of traditional and indigenous crafts, primitive and earth skills, and nature connection in Africa. In essence, the organisation strives towards a sustainable, low-impact future by drawing on traditions, wisdom and practices of the past.
In addition, there will be a youth programme available for children aged 3 to 13, as well as fire-making, live acoustic music, and story-telling.
