Camping is a special celebration of nature, exploring and bonding, and we are lucky to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world to do just that. But, you don’t always want to commit to a huge trip.
So, here are some camping spots just a short drive away from Cape Town:
Rivierplaas Campsite
Sitting on the banks of the Breede River, the Rivierplaas Campsite is a gorgeous spot just outside of Worcester. With a range of campsites all immersed in nature, this is a great spot for people of all ages.
The lack of electricity at Rivierplaas makes it the ideal destination for those looking to unplug from the constant buzz of the world, and the campsite offers a range of wonderful activities to help along with the experience.

Berg River Resort
Just an hour’s drive from the city, the Berg River Resort is located on the banks of the Berg River, and offers a variety of entertainment and great facilities.
The facilities include an Olympic-size as well as a kids-size swimming pool, waterslides, jungle gyms, volleyball, rollerskating, trampolines, putt-putt and a pool table. Electrical points are also available at this campsite.

Dwarsberg Trout Hideaway
Drawrsberg Trout Hideaway is found in Rawsonville along the Holsloot river, meaning it’ll take you just over an hour to get to the beautiful spot.
With 15 different campsites to choose from, it is easy to have plenty to do here. Bring your mountain bike, hiking boots, fishing rods or just your book for a relaxing stay with electricity and hot water.

22 Waterfalls
22 Waterfalls’ campgrounds are on a family farm with gorgeous valley views, cradled by majestic mountains. This is a great spot for getting moving out in nature. The ravine offers exciting hikes and 22 spring-fed waterfalls to see and enjoy.
There is also a 4×4 trail, farm animals, mountain-bike tracks and a dam at the campsites, which are laid along a shallow stream.

Orange-ville
Orange-ville occupies a gorgeous spot in Banhoek in the Winelands, with surroundings of lush horse farms and tranquil vineyards. Also close to Stellenbosch, you can reach a bustling town easily while still enjoying the secluded nature.
This spot offers great facilities, include swimming pools and a wood-fired hot tub, and the accessible area makes hiking, walking and mountain biking ideal activities.
