It has been seven months since the cherished Cape Wheel that was located at the V&A Waterfront closed.

The Cape Wheel’s always been one of the popular spots to catch the sunrise or sunset, now it is located by Breakwater Boulevard giving bird’s-eye views of Granger Bay and the cityscape.
Since 2008 the orbiting attraction had operation between the Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre and Union Castle Square.
Riders can also marvel at the beauty of Signal Hill, Table Mountain, Robben Island and the famous Cape Town stadium while enjoying the Cape Wheel from 15 March 2023.
David Green V&A Waterfront Chief Executive Officer reckons the timing could not be more appropriate and will look forward to repeating visitors due to the perfect location.
“The time is right to restart the operation of the wheel, just ahead of the coming Easter holidays as part of the large package of exciting changes that have been part of the economic recovery of the Waterfront that was revealed ahead of the year-end festive season that the Waterfront.”
The Cape Wheel:
- Offers visitors an unforgettable 15-minute, four revolutions riding experience.
- Features 30 high-tech fully enclosed air-conditioned cabins with sweeping views of Granger Bay and the city behind it. Two of the cabins are wheelchair friendly.
- In addition to the 15-minute ride, the wheel offers a variety of unforgettable experiences, including a VIP experience for 4 passengers, a sky dining picnic, a free ride on your birthday special, a senior’s discount on Tuesdays and discounted ticket prices for pre-booked school outings.
- Children of all ages are allowed and must be accompanied by an adult.
- Ticket sales open from 15 March.
