Andrea Bocelli, one of the world’s biggest classical stars, has confirmed the official dates of his tour in South Africa this year. The talented muso will be performing in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Bocelli is an Italian-born opera singer whose powerful vocals have made him an award-winning artist with 85-million records sold world-wide. Among his numerous awards are the Golden Globe Award for the Best Original Song in 1999 and the World Music Award for World’s Best Selling Italian Artist in 1998, 2002 and 2006. He has also been nominated for several Grammy Awards over the span of his career.

He has done collaborations with pop stars such as Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Scherzinger, and Celin Dion, and even earned a place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, literally cementing his star status.

During his career, he has performed for royalty, Popes, and presidents.

Bocelli will be doing a concert at the Johannesburg Ticketpro Dome, accompanied by the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra and the Symphony Choir of Johannesburg, and at the Val de Vie Estate in Paarl, Cape Town along with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir.

Matteo Bocelli, Andrea’s son, will join his father to perform their famous duet, ‘Fall on Me’.

Tickets will go on sale at 9am on January 25 and will be available from Big Concerts and Computicket. Discovery card holders will get access to 48 pre-sale tickets from 9am on January 23.

Prices begin at R1 140 per person.
