The Kleinmond community is in turmoil after the body of 17-year-old Marno-Lee Oerson was discovered.
Two weeks ago the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) received an emergency call reporting a drowning that occurred on Kleinmond’s main beach.
Montagu schoolboy Marno-lee Oerson (17) was on a school camp in Kleinmond when he lost his balance while standing on a sandbank and was carried away by the water. Since his drowning intensive searches by the NSRI have been conducted.
The NSRI uncovered what is told to be the body of the missing teenager in the coastal village Fisherhaven in Hermanus. The NSRI team and police retrieved the body.
The tragic story is heightened by the fact that the teenager’s 10-year-old sister, Mishca, drowned in 2011. On 22 November 2019 Marno-Lee posted a tribute for what would have been her 18th birthday.
Our deepest condolences go out to Marno-Lee’s family for their tragic losses.
