Cape Town is preparing for two days of electrifying live performances as Robbie Williams and Green Day headline the second edition of Calabash South Africa on 22 and 23 January 2025, Cape {town} Etc reports.
Held at the iconic DHL Stadium, the festival promises an unforgettable celebration of global music talent, bringing some of the world’s biggest names to the Mother City.
After a successful debut in 2024 with acts like Maroon 5 and Meduza, Calabash South Africa has quickly solidified its reputation as one of the premier international music festivals. The 2025 event is expected to build on this momentum with a stellar line-up that spans genres, from pop and rock to electronic and homegrown South African music.
Robbie Williams opens the festival
The festival kicks off on Day 1, 22 January 2025, with none other than Robbie Williams headlining. With a career that boasts six of the Top 100 best-selling albums in British history, over 80 million album sales worldwide, and a staggering 14 Number 1 singles, Williams is sure to bring his trademark energy to the stage. Alongside him will be GoodLuck, Matthew Mole, and Lee Cole, offering fans a night of diverse musical talent.

Green Day rocks South Africa
The excitement continues on Day 2, 23 January 2025, as Green Day makes their long-awaited debut on South African soil. The Grammy-winning trio, known for their powerful punk anthems such as ‘Basket Case’ and ‘American Idiot’, will deliver a high-energy set to their passionate fans. Joining Green Day are The Offspring, another punk rock legend, and Fokofpolisiekar, one of South Africa’s most beloved rock bands. It’s a lineup sure to thrill rock fans of all ages.
Traffic and accessibility information
As with any major event, concert-goers are encouraged to plan their journey in advance. To accommodate the influx of attendees, several roads surrounding DHL Stadium in the Green Point Precinct will be closed from 6am to 12am on both days of the festival. Affected roads include Fritz Sonnenberg Road (between Beach Road and Granger Bay Boulevard) and Vlei Road (between Helen Suzman Boulevard and Fritz Sonnenberg Road).
The City of Cape Town advises residents and visitors to use alternative routes or consider public transport options. Limited parking is available at DHL Stadium, and tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster.
For added convenience, MyCiTi bus services will be available for ticket holders, offering free transport from Civic Centre and Thibault Square to the stadium. Additionally, Park and Ride services will operate from Stellenbosch, Table Bay Mall, Somerset Mall, Canal Walk, and Tygervalley Shopping Centre, with tickets available on Ticketmaster.
For those opting to drive, drop-off and pick-up points for Uber and e-hailing services are located at P13 near DHL Stadium.
Tickets still available
Tickets for Calabash South Africa 2025 are still available for purchase through Ticketmaster. The gates will open at 3:30pm, with the first performance starting at 6pm each day.
