Three Cape Town-based chefs have scooped up a position in the top 300 chefs from around the world on the 2018 Best Chef Awards list.

This prestigious award holds a strong influence in the global food community and evaluates chefs based on their talent, experience and potential in their industry.

A total of 350 candidates are handpicked by the award system with only 300 of them eligible to claim a place on the elite list. During the first phase of voting, all chef contestants vote for 10 of their favourite culinary peers in order of preference.

The results reveal a list of 300 chefs, whose final ranking position will be decided by culinary professionals and ‘fol-lovers’, members of the public who cast their vote online. The number one position on the ranking was awarded to Spain’s, Joan Rocca, a culinary master based at El Cellar De Can Roca in Girona, Spain.
