South Africans will no longer be required to wear face masks – at all. Health minister Joe Phaahla made a brief announcement in the Government Gazette. The notice comes a day before a planned press conference on Thursday.
As well as wearing masks, limits on gatherings and border checks have been scrapped. This includes presenting negative PCR tests upon entering the country.
