According to a family member, Van Zyl purchased a Daihatsu Sirion on 29 November 2022 at Protea Heights and was reportedly last seen at a party that evening.
On Thursday, van Zyl’s cousin posted the following message on Facebook:
“I don’t really know where to start. After an exhaustive search for my cousin DuToit, he was indeed found deceased. It feels like that is where this sentence is supposed to stop. There is no real way to describe anything at the moment.
I do want to thank everyone who reached out to help, who shared kind words, who prayed for us, who told stories of how DuToit and how he impacted your lives. DuToit was lively, caring and somewhat daring. A character who loved to give and spend time with people.
I’m so sorry, DuToit. May God give rest to your soul.
For DuToit’s mother and brother Hein, we’ll keep praying for the comfort of the Holy Spirit, and the protection of God’s angels. For DuToit’s friends, I’ll pray that you are comforted as well and that we can celebrate true friendships and relationships as we live out each one of our next days.
I have seen a lot of messages come through, which I appreciate and really want to answer, but I am also a bit overwhelmed. So please forgive me if I decide to rest first or spend time with my family. I will respond as soon as I can. I will also share any memorial details as soon as we have it finalised.
God bless you all in Jesus’ name.”
Cape {town} Etc extends its sincere condolences to DuToit van Zyl’s family during this time.
