Six-year-old Shanawaaz Asghar was snatched on the corner of 4th and 9th Avenue, Kensington in Cape Town on Wednesday morning just before 8 am.
As reported by IOL, six men jumped out of a silver car and ambushed Shumala Asghar and her three children – including Shanawaaz – as they were leaving their home to walk to Hidayatul Islam Primary School.
Three out of the six men were armed when they snatched Shanawaaz, says Shumala.
“Everything happend so quickly,” she added.
Family friend and spokesperson Fran Joubert told IOL “all the family wants is for him to be returned as soon as possible and unharmed” in a separate article.
“We urging the public, anyone with camera’s in the area to please help find this boy.”
News 24 reports that provincial police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut confirmed the kidnapping and an investigation is underway but will not reveal any further information at this time due to the sensitive nature of the investigation.
No arrests have been made yet, and no ransom calls have been received.
Reece Abrahams, Kensington Community Policing Forum spokesperson is also urging everyone to pray for the boys safe return.
