If a picnic outdoors sounds like the ideal weekend treat to you, then Spier’s the place to be.

The farm’s brand new kitchen deli is offering countryside-lovers a prime way to dine out on the grass – choose your favourite delights, and construct the perfect picnic basket.

Free of pesticides and artificial fertilizers, the deli’s food is made from fresh ingredients straight from the Werf Food Garden. Pick and choose your favourites to fill a basket of homegrown goodness, or simply order a pre-made one. The kitchen offers an array of goodies; from rotisserie chicken, handcrafted pies to sandwiches made with wood-fired Hoghouse bread.

Indulge in delicacies without the guilt – their treats are made with organic sugars that will please even the most health conscious Capetonian. Immerse yourself in their Couverture chocolate meringue and fig balls for a sweet treat at the bottom of your basket.

Don’t forget the refreshments. From Spier wines, beers and ciders to coffee, the deli’s got you covered. The store also stocks picnic quintessentials like hats and blankets.

Spier invites guests to pack their picnic baskets full and linger on the stoep with a glass of wine. Set up your picnic spot along the banks of the Eerste River, under the giant oak or take in the views of the Helderberg mountains beside the Spier Dam.

Guests are also able to book semi-private areas in advance. The Spier Kitchen is open 7 days a week, including public holidays, from 10.00 to 16.30 daily.
