Amare, a Mediterranean coastal restaurant located in the scenic Bantry Bay, has been crowned Africa’s Best New Restaurant for 2025 at the prestigious World Culinary Awards in Italy.
This recognition not only highlights the restaurant’s exceptional offerings but also underscores the vibrant gastronomic scene flourishing in South Africa.
Since its grand opening in October 2024, Amare has quickly captivated both locals and tourists alike.
The restaurant has garnered acclaim for its commitment to authentic Mediterranean cuisine, which features a splendid selection of fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local purveyors.
Each dish is a modern twist on classic Mediterranean fare, designed to evoke the sun-drenched flavours of coastal regions in France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Spain.
‘Our guests are our family and they expect dishes that reflect the richness of flavours along these beautiful coastlines,’ the establishment said.

The menu is complemented by a curated collection of award-winning South African boutique wines, alongside a few carefully selected international options, thus ensuring Amare remains a prime dining destination for all.
This accolade was celebrated by ARTECHE Investment, the parent company of Amare. ‘Being recognised on a world stage is incredibly meaningful for my family, especially my father, who raised me with the motto ‘always build quality first and the rest will follow,’ restaurant noted, reflecting on the combined efforts of the team, guests, and the city itself in achieving this remarkable honour.

The World Culinary Awards, often dubbed the ‘Oscars of gastronomy,’ highlight excellence across the global restaurant and hospitality industries.
This year’s ceremony, hosted at the exquisite Forte Village Resort in Sardinia, celebrated other culinary giants, including Le Calandre, recognised as the World’s Best Restaurant.
The voting process for these awards involves industry professionals as well as public participation, making this recognition a true reflection of Amare’s outstanding stature in the culinary world.
In a bid to further enrich its offering, Amare has recently introduced Amare Jazz Evenings, a delightful fusion of dinner and music held daily in Bantry Bay.
