Tucked away in the Cape Winelands, Paarl is home to the new Parskuip neighbourhood marketplace at Windmeul Kelder.

From homemade jams and preserves to olives and creamy cheeses, the Paarl market has it all. You can find gourmet charcuterie, traditional South African biltong and droëwors, as well as some sweet treats all in one convenient stop. Fill your basket with deletable fudges and nougats, specialist coffees, marinades and even indigenous waterblommetjies.

Tasty treats at Windmeul Neighbourhood Market

Edible treats aren’t all the Paarl gem has to offer. Parskuip also offers ideal gifts for every member of the family. Hand-made accessories, wooden toys, organic pamper goods and of course, award-winning wines from the Windmeul cellar.

Cellar master Danie Marais says that Windmeul is not only committed to craftsmanship with their wines, but also the produce on Parskuip’s shelves.

“The art of creating something with passion and excellence is something that has almost become extinct in out society of instant gratification, but fortunately the appreciation of craftsmanship is slowly making a return. Consumers are increasingly looking for artisanal products that have been crafted with care. It is also very important for us to support local businesses, which focus on sustainability. Most of our suppliers are located in close proximity to Windmeaul,” said Marais.

Parskuip neighbourhood marketplace is open Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm, and Saturday 9am – 3pm. A special kids area invites families for the ideal day together. Saturdays see the Kontreikombuis serving tasty breakfasts, pizzas and even roosterkoek.

Wine tasting is available at the same times, and invites guests to try Windmeul’s award-winning wines.
