Cape Town food market culture is thriving; you can visit a different one every week. Each is brimming with delicious offerings, and it’s difficult to choose what to fill up on. Luckily, it’s hard to miss Little Spanish Kitchen when strolling through a market. Their massive paella pans create quite an impression and grab a lot of positive attention. And rightfully so – they are filled with mouth-watering paella.

Nathan and his wife, Maria, who is Spanish, spent most of their professional careers abroad working in the hospitality industry. They wanted to share everything they loved about Spanish cuisine with Cape Town and set their hearts on venturing back and starting a business. They launched Little Spanish Kitchen about a year ago and it’s become a firm local favourite.

They source fresh ingredients from Cape Town suppliers and link up with an importer of Spanish ingredients. The use of Bomba paella rice, La Dalia paprika, and other secret ingredients ensure authentic dishes. They combine these elements to create different varieties of the famous rice dish, tapas, churros, and more.

Paella is one of Little Spanish Kitchen’s biggest draws. While South Africans are accustomed to enjoying a family braai, Spaniards typically spend weekends eating paella with family and friends. Nathan and Maria create this speciality based home recipes the have been in the family for generations. Seeing the chefs making the dish in front of you at a market is not only a guarantee that it’s fresh, but also that it’s authentic. Their trusty market following brings loyal customers week after week, which is motivation to open a permanent restaurant in the future.

churros

You can hire Little Spanish Kitchen privately for celebrations and corporate events. They offer catering services and can whip up different paella varieties for your party. Your guests will also enjoy the best tapas in town including Gazpacho, tortilla and Albondigas (Spanish meatballs). The much loved Churros are the perfect way to end things on a sweet note, and the kids love them too. Contact them a week in advance to discuss your party requirements and they will customise a solution for you.
