Attending the final night in the Winemakers Series at the Oude Werf Hotel was nothing short of spectacular. The crème de la crème of food and wine pairing.
The evening, which featured a superb four-course meal paired with exquisite wines from Kleine Zalze, was the perfect finale to a series that truly celebrated some of the best wine farms in Stellenbosch.
The Winemakers Series monthly dinners run from May to September and feature four-course menus designed to complement thoughtfully selected wines from Muratie, Vergenoegd Löw, Lourensford, Zandvliet and Kleine Zalze.
The elegance of the hotel, perfectly chosen wines, and scrumptious food made for a truly memorable evening.

We were ushered to our seats in the beautifully intimate setting of Oude Werf’s restaurant, the atmosphere was welcoming and sophisticated. Each course was carefully designed to complement the unique notes of the Kleine Zalze wines, creating a symphony of flavours that brought out the best in the food and the wine.
From the starters to the decadent dessert, every dish was a culinary delight, and the sommelier’s insights into the nuances of the wines made the evening even more special.

We were fortunate enough to stay overnight at the hotel and after an evening of indulgence, we headed to our room. The accommodation was pure luxury, and offered all the creature comforts, with a blend of historic charm and modern luxury that made us feel truly pampered.

The next morning, the experience was topped off with what can only be described as the best Eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. The perfectly poached eggs, rich hollandaise, and melt-in-your-mouth salmon made for a breakfast that was the ideal end to our stay.

I truly hope the Winemakers Series returns next year. If you’re enjoying the dinner or treating yourself to the full package with an overnight stay, it truly is an experience that lingers long after the last glass is finished.
