#HighburyHearsYou – we at Cape Town Etc are passionate about getting local restaurants back and booming in business. As part of our #HighburyHearsYou initiative, we’re dishing out the deets on some incredible restaurants in and around town.

Dining in Cape Town is not the cheapest activity, but here are some eateries where you can get away with pay R100 or less for a meal.

This popular Gardens bar is a well-kept secret bursting with specials. While they are most known for their R110 for two lunchtime specials, they also have some food items that won’t break the bank – even at full price.

Try their baby marrow and brocollio tagliatelle for just R90. It is served with a yummy lemon dressing and toasted almond flakes.

This Indian and Portuguese fusion restaurant has two locations – its flagship in Observatory and its more casual outdoor-seated locale at Dunkley Square.

Here, you can find great drinks specials and yummy authentic cuisine. Try the butter chicken curry bunny chow for only R80, or the butter bean bunny chow for R70. If you’re in the mood for Portuguese food, try the spicy Prego steak roll served with a side of chips for only R80.

Clarke’s Dining Room and Bar:

This popular City Bowl spot is known for its minimalist and laid-back atmosphere. Here, you can sit indoors or outdoors and watch as the city slows down after a long day of hustling and bustling.

Their extensive menu allows you to pick and choose a great meal, but we recommend the vegetarian Sloppy Joe for a filling meal that doesn’t strain the wallet. It costs just R98.
