Sam Stewart started the business ‘a few months ago’, according to Jason Stewart, his father.
‘The story is that he has been desperate for a dirt bike for ages, so I finally said he could get one, but only if he earned the money himself,’ said Jason.
So with that, the young biltong-maker took to the kitchen and Sam’s Dirtbike Biltong was born.
Known for chatting all things rugby and answering questions and chat requests from their podcast listeners, Keo & Zels from the Keo & Zels Show have often asked for ‘tong’. Last week, Sam – with the help of his dad – personally delivered the goods and was rewarded with a shout-out on their latest episode:
The two taste-testers, Keo & Zels, both praised Sam’s biltong-making skills, describing the homemade biltong as ‘delicious’, ‘scrumptious’ and ‘good stuff’ with a little hint of ‘yamaha’ or ‘suzuki’ – according to Zels.
When asked by Keo how far he is to his goal of purchasing a dirt bike, the young entrepreneur and rugga fan replied: ‘40%’.
Options for customers include biltong being sliced, whole, moist or dry, with the business operating in Orangezicht.
