We live in a fast-paced world that’s obsessed with being busy, so much so that it’s sometimes difficult to take a step back and enjoy the moment. Taking time out for yourself can be a great way to renew your physical and mental energy, and spending time alone can help you do just that.
Here are a few ways you can spend a solo night in, or out, depending on your mood:
Set the mood
If you’re looking to enjoy a night with yourself, creating an ambience that’s stress-free is crucial. Light some scented candles and allow the sweet melodies of your favourite playlist to drift in the background. The candle is compulsory, even if you’re a guy. Take it a step further by running yourself a bath or grabbing your favourite book.
Avoid the kitchen
While cooking yourself a delicious dinner is a great way to express your creativity, that’s not what you’ll be getting up to for your solo date. Instead, satisfy your favourite food craving by ordering a delicious meal off of Ubereats. But make sure you don’t forget dessert.
Have a movie night
This is your chance to truly indulge. Grab some fairy lights or stick to your favourite scented candles and create a movie night that will trump all movie nights. Whether you choose to enjoy a good Netflix series or your favourite film for the 70th time, make sure you’ve factored in some healthy and not-so-health snacks. Not sure what to watch? Take yourself out
Sometimes it can feel a little awkward eating by yourself, but it truly is a liberating experience that you’ll thank yourself for later. The Mother City is home to some incredible restaurants, so whether you’re in the Northern Suburbs or tucking into something delicious in the heart of Cape Town, take a deep breath and take the “eating alone” plunge!
