Let’s face it, not everyone can be classified as a ‘morning person’ (coffee anyone?), but that doesn’t mean you can’t still get the most out of your day and work towards being more productive.
Feeling sluggish and drained is a common feeling, but it often sets us back from doing what we really need to do in order to get the most out of the day.
Working towards a realistic routine by implementing small changes can help increase productivity:
Set your alarm and wake up earlier (no snoozing allowed)
Easier said than done, right? But waking up earlier in the morning has its perks. You have more time set aside to do what you want to, whether that be grocery shopping, cleaning the house, exercise or meditation – small changes can really make a difference.
Create a realistic to-do list
Before going to bed, try to set out three things that you should do the next morning and focus on getting these tasks done first before adding anything else to your list. This could be simple tasks like tidying up your closet or cleaning your car – what matters is that you execute it.
Try to exercise
Fitness plays a big role in improving your mood, and according to Mayo Clinic, physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier, more relaxed and less anxious. So take that brisk walk or tackle a sweaty gym session. You’ll feel more energised and ready to take on the day ahead.
Meditation works wonders
Meditation not only improves attention and concentration, but it also redirects your thoughts to calm your mind, as healthline notes. People often use meditation as a way to maintain a positive mood, promote self-discipline, and encourage healthy sleep patterns.
Spend some time feeding your mind
What you invest energy into from the moment you wake up often sets the tone for the rest of the day. Reading a few pages out of an inspirational book or practising gratitude by writing down three things you are grateful for can give you the head start you need.
Enjoy a nutritious breakfast
Whether you enjoy a smoothie, some oatmeal with berries or avocado on toast, fuelling your body with healthy meals can help to boost your energy levels.
