The last month of the warm Cape Town summer season is upon us, culminating in a hopping good time at The Galileo’s Special Shows over Easter weekend and a glut of documentaries, nostalgic classics and contemporary rom-coms, dramas and all-age fun.
April’s screenings include the annual surf and sea Wavescape Festival, an intimate Royale experience, the toe-curling Free Solo climbing film, Galileo nostalgic favourites and fun-filled family screenings during the school holidays.
With a diverse line-up of outdoor movie screenings, exciting activities and delicious treats, The Galileo promises memorable evenings of laughter and cherished moments.

- Friday, 3 April: Rise of the Guardians – Easter Special Show. Expect free popcorn, games, colouring-in competitions, and the Easter Bunny!
- Sunday, 5 April: Wonka – Easter Special Show. All the same inclusions as Easter Friday, perfect for a relaxed and fun evening.
- Saturday, 11 April: Shrek – a charming animated comedy that will make you laugh along with Donkey, Fiona and Shrek as he finds his home in the swamp overrun by fairy tale creatures banished by the obsessive ruler lord Farquaad.

Easter Eggstravaganza
Celebrate Easter with The Galileo’s festive outdoor movie experience!
Get ready for Easter-themed fun! Snap a selfie with the Easter Bunny, enjoy face painting and participate in group competitions for kids and more! Little ones can also enjoy lawn games, festive decorations and a colouring competition.
- Good Friday, 3 April: Rise of the Guardians at Central Park – bring a picnic blanket and enjoy complimentary popcorn, games, activities, the Easter Bunny and more under the twinkling sky.
- Easter Sunday, 5 April: Wonka at Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden – embark on a magical adventure with a young Willy Wonka with the same fun, excitement and inclusions as the Friday show.

For the adventure lovers, The Galileo presents the Free Solo, Wavescape and Deep Rising documentaries. Expect an electrifying climbing film as Alex Honnold attempts to climb El Capitan with no ropes or support. We also learn about sustainability of the ocean with Wavescape, and Deep Rising illuminates the vital relationship between our ocean’s fragile and mysterious ecosystems and sustaining all life on Earth.
