Cape Town’s summer season has gained a striking new addition along its prized Atlantic coastline, where Morea House, Autograph Collection, has officially opened its doors just steps away from Camps Bay Beach.
The launch comes as travellers begin streaming into the city for the holidays, creating timely momentum for the local luxury hotel scene.
The new hotel marks the first Autograph Collection property in Cape Town, and Time Out notes that the opening feeds directly into the city’s rising demand for high-end, design-driven accommodation.
Positioned along Victoria Road, the 90-room address sits squarely in one of the city’s most sought-after locations, with uninterrupted views stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Twelve Apostles.
Morea House has been described as a property shaped by its surroundings, thanks to the vision of Cape Town–based designer Tristan du Plessis, who is known for hospitality projects around the world.
His interiors layer stone, timber and bronze tones with sculptural forms to mirror the contrasts of the ‘mountain, sea and sand’ just outside the windows.
Guestrooms lean into tactile comfort, with custom furnishings and a design language that underscores a strong sense of place.
Restaurant spaces follow the same design-forward approach, as OMRI, the hotel’s signature ground-floor restaurant, offers modern Lebanese dishes threaded with local coastal influences.
Time Out points out that early bookings are soon to become essential for the sea-view booths.
For relaxed afternoons, the Pool Restaurant transitions from lunch to sunset drinks as the light drops behind Camps Bay. The pool terrace itself is set to become a favourite with guests keen on all-day lounging and golden-hour views.
Inside, quieter pockets offer a winter-friendly atmosphere, including a courtyard showcasing local art and The Wine Room, where guests can taste an array of Cape vintages.
A spa menu inspired by South Africa’s fynbos and a ‘guided cold-water immersion’, described playfully as a supported dip in the Atlantic, brings a wellness edge to the experience.
General Manager Albert Smit says the hotel’s goal is to provide a sense of calm from the moment guests arrive.
‘When guests arrive, our intention is for them to feel as if they’ve discovered a sanctuary created just for them. We want them to leave restored, reconnected, and carrying with them the essence of this place,’ he explains.
Whether travellers seek a romantic break, a reset, or a base for exploring the city’s beaches and mountains, Smit believes the property offers a truly local experience that stands apart.
Arriving at the height of the summer rush, Morea House blends oceanfront living with curated interiors and a strong sense of location.
Its debut not only adds another luxury option for visitors but also signals the ongoing evolution of Cape Town’s hospitality landscape, one that continues to grow, diversify and attract global attention.
