A Western Cape man has come forward to claim a life-changing R163 552 190 PowerBall prize, National Lottery operator Ithuba confirmed. The jackpot followed 21 rollovers and was the largest PowerBall prize of the year.
The winner bought a R30 ticket via the Nedbank banking app. He said he played one Quick Pick ticket and one manually selected ticket using dates that mean something to him.
He first thought he had won only R10 after a routine app notification, until a later call from his bank made the full win clear.
According to The South African, he spoke warmly about family plans and small joys. He told reporters he will use the money to support relatives and give his children more opportunities.

For his wife he promised the best coffee machine on the market, admitting she would prefer a live-in barista.
He also plans a surprise trip for his wife and her sisters and hopes to take swimming lessons and learn a musical instrument.
A devoted Manchester United fan, he said he will finally see the team play overseas with his children. He asked to remain anonymous while Ithuba and the National Lotteries Commission complete the formal claims process.
