Pretoria-born beauty queen Zoalize Jansen van Rensburg is still in the race for the Miss World crown.
Currently in Hyderabad, India, the reigning Miss World South Africa is flying the flag high as she competes alongside more than 100 women from across the globe for one of the most coveted titles in pageantry.
While the stage may be grand, Zoalize’s mission is deeply rooted in compassion and action.
Her Beauty with a Purpose project, Never Too Young To Advocate, shines a spotlight on children’s rights – particularly those without safe homes, access to education, or a voice of their own.
‘At the heart of this project is the belief that every child deserves a safe place to grow, to learn, and to dream of a better tomorrow,’ says Zoalize. ‘Together, we can give them back what they need most – their childhood, their joy, and their future.’
The advocacy campaign was born from a visit to an orphanage five years ago – a moment that, she says, changed her life. Since then, the law student has been working with organisations like Unchain Our Children, Arms of Mercy and The Smile Foundation, offering direct support through everything from legal aid and mental health services to education and fundraising.
Zoalize has also penned a children’s book, Only a World Away, which helps young readers develop literacy skills through storytelling and activity-based learning.
In India, she continues her humanitarian work while preparing for the finals – living out the Miss World ethos of beauty with a purpose in every sense.
‘There’s no woman better than another,’ she says of the experience. ‘We’re united by a shared goal: to make the world better.’
The Miss World pageant final is set to take place on 31 May and will be streamed live on the official Miss World YouTube channel.
