Update: 10 January, 12pm
Residents in several neighbourhoods in the Southern parts of the City are currently grappling with significant water supply disruptions due to a leak in a vandalised pipe, reports Cape {town} Etc.
The Water and Sanitation maintenance team has been deployed on-site to address the issue, with repairs underway for the newly identified leak.
The affected areas span a diverse range of communities, including Knole Park, Ottery, Grassy Park, and parts of Wynberg and Plumstead, among others. Schools and community facilities are also feeling the impact, with access to water severely compromised.
As the maintenance team isolates the damaged line to drain it safely for repairs, efforts are in place to ensure that essential services continue.
Water tankers have been secured and will be dispatched to several key locations throughout the day, including:
- Pelican Park Clinic
- Corner Park and Mars Roads, Wynberg
- Levana Primary School, Schaapkraal
- Steenberg Community Centre (Cnr Symphony Avenue and Cradock Rd)
- Seawinds Sports Field
In response to the situation, residents are advised to conserve the water available in their homes, particularly those experiencing low water pressure.

There is no estimated time for restoration. ‘No estimated time of restoration can be determined at this stage,’ the notice said.
