The Western Cape has recorded 16 more COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus in the province to 403. The number of active cases has also increased to 7 726 as of May 28, and 9 157 patients have successfully recovered. 

“We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased at this time,” Western Cape Premier Alan Winde said in a statement.
