In a pressing reminder for families across the Western Cape, the clock is ticking for the parents of over 28 000 current Grade 7 learners who have yet to submit applications for their children’s Grade 8 placements for the upcoming academic year.
Minister of Education David Maynier has made a fervent appeal to these parents: ‘Do not wait any longer!’
The deadline for on-time applications looms large, with just two weeks remaining until the admissions window closes on Tuesday, 14 April 2026.
So far, a commendable 125 063 parents have already taken the initiative to secure places for their children in Grade R, 1, or 8, prompting Maynier to express his gratitude for those prioritising their applications.
‘We have made it as easy as possible to apply, and assistance is readily available for those who may struggle with online applications, so there is no reason not to apply on time,’ Maynier stated.
