The Western Cape public health facilities rejoiced on Christmas Day as 32 newborns made their grand entrance into the world in a heartwarming celebration of life, reports Cape {town} Etc.
The arrival of these little miracles brought festive joy not only to their families but also to healthcare workers dedicated to providing exceptional care, even during the holiday season.
The first baby, a little girl, was born at Helderberg Hospital precisely at midnight. Throughout the day, hospitals across the province welcomed a total of 32 newborns—11 boys and an impressive 21 girls—marking a day of celebration and hope.
Western Cape MEC for Health and Wellness, Mireille Wenger, expressed her delight at the number of young lives welcomed into the world. ‘We extend heartfelt congratulations to the families of these precious little ones. This miracle would not be possible without the dedication of healthcare workers who, even on Christmas Day, serve tirelessly often away from their own loved ones to care for others,’ she stated.
The warmth of community and family was echoed in Wenger’s message to the parents of the newborns.
‘Congratulations to the parents on the safe delivery of all the new arrivals on Christmas Day. We look forward to being a part of their development journey,’ she added, highlighting the commitment of Western Cape health services to support families from the start of their parental journey.
With a profound appreciation for the healthcare professionals, Wenger noted, ‘We also extend a sincere thank you to all our staff members, including midwives, for their hard work and dedication on this special day,’
