When hiking on Table Mountain you would have caught a glimpse of the Apostle Battery, which was once a World War II defence station. However, what you may not know, is that the station will soon be turned into a boutique hotel!
If all goes well, by 2025 the World War II station situated near Llandudno will be revamped with a makeover to turn it into not only luxury accommodation, but a restaurant, spa and a museum.
It is said that the station will be converted into two mountain lodges which will be military-styled where guests will get to experience the rustic watchtower sleepover high in the mountains. They will also have about 21 suites built of lightweight canvas and light gauge steel which will bring the effects of the original station structure into effect with each having its own pool with views over Llandudno and the breathtaking Atlantic.

The project is a collaboration between Newmark Hotels & Reserves and Ilios Travel who plan to have the project complete by 2025.
If you happen to have missed the small history lecture from your hike guide, the station was built between the 1939 and 1945 and consisted of a number of buildings such as the guardroom, workshop, quartermaster sergeant’s room, mess hall, soldiers’ dormitories, a radio room, generator room, storeroom and ammunition room.
