It has been 130 years since the very first flower seller sold her first bouquet in Stuttafords, inspiring a generation of descendants to grace Adderley street and carve out their own colourful place in history.

Aunty Poppy has become an iconic figure at the famous flower market on Trafalgar Square over the years, and her presence will be sorely missed.

Since the announcement, condolences have been poring in from well-wishers.

“Shame man, condolences to her family and the rest of the flower selling family. A well known face at that market. May she RIP,” commented one Facebook user.
