While Western Cape police remain silent on the investigation into Alistair Stanbull’s death, another suspect may be linked to a human settlements fraud case, Cape {town} Etc reports.

The State revealed this on Friday when the R2.5 million tender fraud case returned to the Bellville Commercial Crimes Court.
Stanbull and one of his colleagues were arrested in November 2022 for allegedly approving invoices for unfinished work by a contractor. Both worked for the City of Cape Town’s Human Settlements department.
He was later released on R10 000 bail.
However, Stanbull disappeared on 29 April this year after leaving his Steenberg home to go hiking. His vehicle was found on Ou Kaapse Weg and his decomposed body at Silvermine Nature Reserve.
The discovery was made one week before he and his co-accused were due to appear in court again.
The Daily Voice reports that Stanbull’s death certificate was presented at court, although autopsy findings have not been made public yet. It also reported that a new accused might be linked to the case.
All charges against him were dropped and the case will resume on 20 November.
