An opening for thousands of jobs could not have come at a better time for the country. American multinational technology company Amazon has announced 3000 newly available positions in their customer service department.

The huge number of jobs will be available to South Africans and are specifically for remote working positions that range from customer service associates to technical experts helping clients in North America.

“We are thrilled with the talent in South Africa and we are excited to add 3000 skilled jobs this year in customer service and to help keep people working during this unprecedented time,” said director of Amazon Customer Service in South Africa, Andrew Raichlin.

“The new jobs reflect our continued commitment to South Africa’s economic development, and I am proud to have South Africa be a growing part of our ability to deliver a great experience to Amazon customers around the world and provide employees with the opportunity to work safely from home.”

In total, including the new recruits, Amazon has employed 7000 South Africans.

Candidates must have completed matric, Grade 12, NQF Level 4 or higher to qualify for a position. Other requirements include a good command of English, South African citizenship and an existing internet connection.
