Following a a recent spike in ambulance and paramedic robberies across the Western Cape, yet another incident unfolded in the streets of a Cape Town southern suburb on Friday morning.

An ambulance driver was robbed at gunpoint in Mitchells Plain, along with a passenger, as it was driving down AZ Berman Drive in the Lentegeur area.

Two men stopped the ambulance, with one assailant armed with a gun.

The suspects made off with the cell phones, wallets, bank cards and an undisclosed amount of cash stolen from the ambulance’s occupants.

Fortunately, no shots were fired, and neither the passenger nor paramedic were injured.

A case of armed robbery is currently being investigated.
