‘Following comrade PG’s passing, those who were the beneficiaries of corruption and their morally bankrupt supporters, against whom comrade PG fought so hard, were quick to insult his memory and slander his name’ said Mbalula, reports The Citizen.
‘They peddled false narratives about him in order to achieve their goal. Not only was this shameful and morally repulsive but it is also downright evil. This is the kind of conduct society must reject with the contempt it deserves.’
Mbalula went on to say that the values of the late minister are to be upheld at all times, as he was known to stand up for the causes he believed in.
‘He stood for the truth when it was not fashionable. It is not easy to stand against corruption, he did not fight for a position, even when he stood against state capture, he still rallied people behind the ANC because he knew the ANC was an important vehicle.’
‘Leaders come and go but the ANC must remain as the vehicle of the people, comrade PG understood that’ ended the secretary-general.’

To further honour Gordhan, the ANC vowed to implement a renewal agenda which was also detailed in the Keynote speech delivered by Mbalula.
The political party, specifically its Veterans’ League, intends to establish the renewal commission.
The commission will include leadership by the President and it will include former president Thabo Mbeki.
The programme of renewal intends to roll out massive political workshops across South Africa, which will commence once the NEC of the ANC has adopted the programme.
The president of the ANC Veterans’ League stated that ‘if we do not renew the ANC, the ANC will perish’ reports News24.
When commenting on this, Mbalula claimed that the renewal will be painful, winning only revolutionaries and not friends.
