35-year-old Anichka Penev‘s family are appealing to the media and public to stop circulating fake news with regard to details that can get her into more trouble with her abductors who could be following media reports.

Penev was kidnapped outside her work last Thursday in Blackheath/Kuils River. A ransom has been demanded by the actual price will not be released to the public.
According to News24 a family member said “All the incorrect allegations made with regards to a ransom being asked, the price Penev paid for her car and how much it cost the family to start up the business are just jeopardising the entire case.”

The family also raised concerns over the emergency hotline number 10111 not working.
Western Cape SAPS spokesperson Captain Frederick Van Wyk could not address the issue of whether 10111 was down or functional but advised that Penev’s kidnapping is still under investigation and that developments will be updated as they come up.
The family is praying for Penev’s safe return.
