Another mass shooting has rocked the township of Khayelitsha with six people shot dead on Sunday evening.
The Cape Town township has been plagued by mass shootings over the last few weeks which have seen dozens lose their lives in the senseless violence.
Western Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa confirmed the shooting, stating that police were called to the scene on the corner of Maphongwana and Idada Avenues in Site C shortly after 20:00, reports EWN.
Five unidentified men were found dead on the scene while the sixth individual was rushed to a nearby hospital but died on arrival.
“Organised crime detectives are hard at work, busy with an investigation which was initiated immediately. Details of the deceased persons are currently being determined,” Potelwa stated.
The victims are believed to be in their 30s.
This is the third mass shooting to hit Khayelitsha since March, with five individuals shot dead in Endlovini informal settlement, followed by six others who were killed a few days later, as per News24.
