Aquila, the special wilderness where the big 5 roam in the Klein Karoo, has had to face that which so many places have had to face in South Africa – the longest lockdown in the world.

It has been devastating to the business as they could not lock up and leave, but had to ensure that hundreds of employees, families, and animals were taken care of, and that their accommodations, newly renovated restaurants, bars, lounge and spa were kept in mint condition for reopening.

Throughout the months, Aquila’s animals thrived in the unprecedented amounts of rainfall that was so welcomed, soaking the thirsty lands of their 10,000 hectares, transforming it into a landscape of lush, green hues.

They celebrated the births of endangered species through to other wonderful creatures, great and small, all under the watchful eye of their anti poaching unit and conservationists who remained at the reserve during lockdown. One of their dedicated anti poachers even celebrated the birth of his own child remotely – such was his dedication to their most endangered species.

Aquila has so many people to thank, including all their reserve staff and head office staff working remotely and tirelessly towards the goal of their animal’s health, safety and ultimately, for reviving the business.

Now is the exciting part, when they get to share their special piece of the wild with you! Aquila is offering limited Weekend Safari Specials in September that have been been reduced by a huge percentage, which you’ll see when you head to www.aquilaspecials.com

Chat to Reservations in the pop-up chat on the website should you have any questions. (It is operational from 09:00 – 20:00)

Aquila can’t wait to see you for a couple’s, family, girl’s, guy’s or any kind of weekend away to see the big 5, with a pampering in our Tranquila Spa thrown in, perhaps? Or how about a daring Quad Safari?! Remember to check out the add-ons before you do your final check out. See you at Aquila, only 2 hours from Cape Town.
