Two suspects, aged 23 and 49, have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a 57-year-old woman from Steenberg, Cape {town} Etc reports.

The arrests were made by a multi-disciplinary team comprising the Provincial Organised Crime’s Anti-Kidnapping Team, Crime Scene Investigations, Operation Lockdown, Steenberg Visible Policing, Muizenberg Vispol, and City of Cape Town Law Enforcement.
According to a SAPS statement, the woman was kidnapped at gunpoint from her residence in St Montagu Village, Lavender Hill, on 10 July 2024, around 8:45pm, during a power outage.
The suspects, who wore masks, fled the scene in a silver vehicle.
A breakthrough in the case came on Sunday, 18 August, when the 23-year-old suspect was apprehended following an investigation.
He appeared in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court the following day on a kidnapping charge.
Further investigation led to the arrest of the 49-year-old suspect on Monday, 19 August.
This arrest resulted in the discovery of the woman’s body, buried in a sand grave behind a municipal landfill site in Muizenberg. Her body bore multiple stab wounds.
Both suspects are scheduled to appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court today on charges of kidnapping and murder.
